    Mallorca 2019

Hi Dave, good to meet you today. Please find attached a pic of the little tern. It did three laps of the pool at Depurado. The best I’ve managed today were black and little tern & tawny pipits. At the bouquer; red kite, booted eagles, blue rock thrush and a pair of Balearic warblers. Hoping to...

    Mallorca 2019

Thanks everyone for the tips and advice. Hugh, I had read previously about the holes being blocked up at the hotel, such a shame. Great to hear that Christina had one at La Gola Mike, that means there is hope!! Really can’t wait to get back across it was so good last year. James

    Mallorca 2019

Hello, after a wonderful first trip to Puerto Pollensa last year, I’m going to be back for a week this spring. One of the species I missed last year was Scops Owl. Does anyone know if there were/ are any near Puerto Pollensa? I checked unsuccessfully the sites mentioned in the Gosney guide.

I'd suggest going to Yellowcraigs and scoping Fidra for puffins.

    Western Scotland birding

There were at least 4 in the park in Darvel last Sunday. Hadn't visited the area before and I was surprised at how common they were.

    Lothian Birding

Nice one Gus. I didn't actually intend for it to be a 2 hour challenge. That's all the time I had, was thinking just day total but maybe the 2 hours makes it more challenging and therefore fun. Yeah the field is in scope. I'd say all the area between braid hills road and blackford pond?

    Lothian Birding

Argh third attempt at typing this up. Top tip, don't make a post from your phone on here, one wrong move and you lose the whole thing. So highlights from today in the hermitage were nuthatch, treecreeper, usual dippers, skylark back on the field, kestrel catching a vole about 20 yards from me...

    Lothian Birding

Fairly easy in the Hermitage of Braid at the moment, especially if you get there early.

    Lothian Birding

As I've just posted on twitter, there is a kingfisher on the Braidburn right now. It's on Craigmillar Golfcourse infront of the bridge that takes the burn under the houses and main road.

There were 6 Grey Partridge in the field just after the oil seed rape was harvested at the end of the summer. Around the same time, there was a lage flock of lapwing.

    Lothian Birding

Went to Mussleburgh today. 1 grasshopper warbler beside the hides. 1 swift over boating pond and 6 Wheatear was the best of it.

    Lothian Birding

After 5 attempts at seeing the Brent geese at Cramond, I finally seen one at Mussleburgh today. Just as I was about to give up, turned the scope out to sea and stopped right on it.
