What trousers do you wear in the current UK cold snap?

Indeed. My garden is only fit to plant rice in now.

What trousers do you wear in the current UK cold snap?

We have been down there a few times visiting family but it costs us a fortune. We could have a fortnight birding somewhere warm for the same price as a weekend in Devon :ROFLMAO:

    Exciting times! Whereabouts are you?

What trousers do you wear in the current UK cold snap?

I wear M&S tights under my trousers. They work wonders - supposed to keep you warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. It is good to be out and about at this time of year when everything's coming to life again. Good to blow the cobwebs away too but having just returned from Vietnam, it feels...

What trousers do you wear in the current UK cold snap?

I am like you and cover up well. No-one has been generous enough to have gifted me some Paramo trousers but I do have some good Rohan ones and avoid going out in extreme weather 😉 Sometimes it is definitely not good to be out! Good to know though that your birthday trousers are keeping you dry...

What trousers do you wear in the current UK cold snap?

I have only just come across this post but can add that my husband wears shorts and sandals with no socks wherever we are, whatever the weather!!! Yes, even up high in the Sichuan snow! His current shorts are from Decathlon if that's any use! :ROFLMAO:

Are there companies which organize self-driven tours?

Aratinga in Costa Rica are great. We have used Pieter twice now and have another tour booked round Christmas time. Extrely good prices too.

Can anyone recommend a Bird guide for Southern Ecuador, please.

Ann and Roland Go Birding in South East Africa

We went to the Cape Area in 2017 and our excellent and very enthusiastic guide recommended the south eastern area for our next trip which we finally got round to organising last year. It had always been on my Wish List to go to Kruger so I was really looking forward to this. Did it live up to my...

Ann and Roland Go Birding in Portugal. The Algarve. April 2023

It was unseasonably hot when we were in Portugal - it should have been the breeding season but spring was early because of the drought and high temperatures so the breeding season was over! A lot of the birds were hiding during the day, apparently ;) Dave's book isn't recent of course so some...

Ann and Roland Go Birding in North west Argentina. September 2022

I am surprised that neither Ricardo nor Mauricio responded to your enquiry as they are usually quick to respond. I hope you have a fantastic time in Argentina - I don't think I could manage 6 weeks continuous birding! There has been a change of government since we returned last year and the...

Ann and Roland Go Birding in North west Argentina. September 2022

This was our second trip to Argentina, again with Clark Expediciones and what a trip it was! Stupendous :) :0 Hoping there will be a third trip sometime soon.

Ann and Roland Go Birding in Uganda. June 2023

We were missing Africa so decided to visit the areas of Uganda hadn't birded on our previous trip with Johnnie Kamugisha in 2015. We had stayed in touch with Johnnie and his lovely wife, Agnes, since then seeing them regularly at Bird Fair so he was the obvious choice.

Ann and Roland Go Birding in Portugal. The Algarve. April 2023

We hadn't been to Portugal since our honeymoon in 2016 and hoped to see that the countryside was still as quiet and undisturbed as it was then once you got away from the main drag ........ It was ;)

Ann and Roland Go Birding in India: Delhi - Chopta - Pangot- Corbett - Bandhavgarh - Kanha. February 2023

Another trip that had been postponed a couple of times by Covid. From the frozen north to the blazing heat.

Ann and Roland go Birding in Peru. November 2022

This was our second trip to Peru. We had been to the South in 2019 and were very careful not to book with Omar Diaz (Captain Chaos) of Peru Birding Tours again, choosing Steve Sanchez instead. We thought the trip had been sabotaged by a plane crash in Lima just as before we set off from home...

Ann and Roland Go Birding in North east Argentina. September 2022

Another re-arranged trip due to Covid. Argentina were, I believe, the last country to re-open their borders. We had had to wait a couple of years for this. Would it be as good as we had hoped? You bet it was, and more! So good that we booked another trip before leaving.

Ann and Roland Go Birding in India India (Kashmir/Ladakh/Rajhastan) July 2022

This was a trip we had arranged earlier and had had to postpone more than once thanks to Covid. Now the time had come to visit Northern India - I had always wanted to visit Kashmir. Would it live up to my dream? Would I return with a hand-woven shawl? And what about the birds, the scenery, the...

Ann and Roland Go Birding in South eastern Brazil. April 2022

This was a trip we had planned for February 2021 with the fabulous Brazil Birding Experts. We had birded the north with Ciro Albano the previous December and it was so fantastic that we arranged this before leaving. Then Boris opened his mouth about a virulent Covid variant and Brazil banned us...

Ann and Roland go last-minute birding in Costa Rica February 2022

We were supposed to be going to India in February but they wouldn't let us in so we had to cancel again. We didn't want to stay at home so went back to Costa Rica as it was quick and easy to arrange through Aratinga. Thank goodness that the airlines we had been using were so flexible and...

Ann and Roland go lockdown birding in Costa Rica. 2021

Travel was getting easier by now...... We had had to cancel last year's proposed trip to Costa Rica but organised this tour through Aratinga instead. I just love Costa Rica - it is so beautiful with its lush vegetation and colourful birds. Plus sunshine! I feel very much at ease there. Perhaps...

Ann and Roland go lockdown birding in Colombia. 2021

Our determination to continue travelling took us to Colombia too. We booked a tour through Multicolor Birding and as Colombia was on the Red List, it meant we would have to isolate at great expense in some crummy British hotel for two weeks on our return. We were absolutely NOT going to do that...
