    North Wales Birding

I think I might have spoken to you on the cycle track, I was looking over the wet grassland for the Tern and we spoke about the Barnacles. Re: your post from 11th about Coed Cilgroeslwyd. It's become a kind of "patch" of mine recently, along with Eyarth rocks. I'll definitely be keeping an...

    Buzzard (?), Cornwall, UK. 18th May 2014

Hi all, Whilst paying a visit to Lands End on Sunday 18th May I noticed a very low flying Raptor being mobbed by a Herring gull flying West to East along the cliff line. Initially I didn't pay much attention thinking it to be just a Buzzard, but as it got closer and after first seeing it...

    Corncrakes - Mull

I'm going to Mull for a day trip (possibly Monday 11th) from Oban. I doubt I will be able to get over to Iona, and have seen vague references to Corncrake being seen on Mull itself. Is this accurate or are they just reports from Iona? Basically what's the chance of seeing a Corncrake on...

My first SEO experience and boy was it a good one!

I have seen 3 at Parkgate at High Tide, distant, but excellent views. Not sure what it's like for the Raptor Watch, but I will be going to 1 this year.

    Why can't I take a sharp photo?

Ilkka, thanks for the info. I have always had a 'fuzzy' Vignetting, but I digi-scope without the aid of a 'sleeve' or simliar to stop light from 'escaping'. I will see if I can conjure something up and give this a try. Wally

    Why can't I take a sharp photo?

I understand that you may not want to place the camera really close to the eye-peice (stratching etc), but the closer you get the better. The more light you let in between the camera and the eye-peice the 'foggier' the pictures are. I am sure somebody with a bit more technical knowledge may be...

    Birds at RSPB South Stack

Heres a picture taken of 1 of the 8 Puffins at South Stack on 7th June last year (only a litle later than when you visit) http://www.wallbank.me.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10002/puffin.jpg If you have a bit more time, Cemlyn Lagoon is also worth a visit, this is a beautiful place, the Terns...

Collins Bird Eguide & Home PC

It doesn't help in this situation (as you've already purcahsed your software), but the RSPB electronic book can be used on PC and PDA. You get a license for each.

    Advice needed on attracting raptors

lol, nice tip but isn't that a bit drastic in this situation? There was a program on British TV a few months ago, and they built a structure in the hope of attracting Barn Owl's (as the barn they were nesting in was falling down). From what I can remember the hole they access has to be at...

    Snowy Owls In Scotland

That was my point. If the birder is providing the picture, then the BBC should be posting the correct 1.

    Snowy Owls In Scotland

That picture appears to have been taken by the guy who is saying they are both males, I (we/you) would hope that they are at least attaching the correct pictures for the story.

Marsh or Willow Tit, 23rd February 2007. Moore Nature Reserve, Cheshire, England.

Here are 2 more First is on full Digi-Zoom and hand held, so not the best picture in the world. 2nd is the same but without the zoom (if it helps) Wally

Marsh or Willow Tit, 23rd February 2007. Moore Nature Reserve, Cheshire, England.

I had 2 side by side at Bodelwyddan last year, ID is easy when the 2 are stood next to each other on a bird table. Looks like I will be heading back there for a Marsh again. At least Willow is a year tick :-) Wally

Marsh or Willow Tit, 23rd February 2007. Moore Nature Reserve, Cheshire, England.

I have more pictures, but they are either on Digital zoom (so pixelation is dreadful) or the thing is behind a twig. I will see if I can find any that would help, but with the points already posted I'm settling for Willow. That was my gut instinct, I was just hoping for Marsh (based mainly on...

Marsh or Willow Tit, 23rd February 2007. Moore Nature Reserve, Cheshire, England.

This little guy had me going. Personally I think it's a Willow Tit, for the following reasons. - Pale Wing 'bar' - Looks a bit 'bull-headed' to me - I'm not lucky enough for it to be Marsh :-) Reasons it could be Marsh -Was feeding from a bird table (Collins say thats a guide, but I think it's...
