Thanks. Not peregrine. Have to lean towards Eddie the Eagle's local knowledge. Not familiar with lesser kestrel. I always assumed hovering as home kestrels. These have fast wingbeats and then glide. Only saw one kill but a few attempts.- dram7

The RSPB prosected a guy for killing a golden eagle once. His defence was that he was shooting a pheasant and the eagle got in his line of fire. who dunnit ?
Just cannot see and never heard of buzzard catching live wood pigeon. Sparrowhawks(female) all the time when on the ground. sparrowhawk takes the juicy parts away because it can't carry the whole bird. Buzzard mops up the leftovers.- dram7

Thanks. I normally had no doubt it was a willow. Chiff chaffs have never been seen or heard here. But reports of them are more common this far north hence my question. Odd wagtail? Cornwall, UK
I noticed pieds in the south of france in early summer before the moult. They are definitely different in that same respect. there is a big variation in colouring compared to NE of scotland birds.- dram7
