    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Nice to know you're still here Colleen. I've admired these seascapes since the start of your great Odyssey, they just get better and better. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Beautiful, peaceful, calming, even the livelier seas with the living surf, your latest works are all these things. Truly wonderful Colleen. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Love the light and the observed behavior in this Colleen. You're right at home with sky, sea and sand now and the birds are just enough to add that special sparkle. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Love these gull studies Colleen, they just keep getting better and better, but then, I guess that's the point isn't it! Again your tenacity and drive bears fruit. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

I hadn't realised that I'd not commented on these latest, it's so difficult to remember with so much going on. The top seascape is magic, full of atmosphere once more. I'm usually of the 'it's a gull of some sort' camp too, I'm OK with the commoner adults (I think) but my head starts to spin...

Gulls are looking good Colleen. Your work ethic is always an inspiration. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

You've caught the atmospherics in the scene beautifully Colleen. It's given it a great feel of distance and depth. You're right, a gull or two would help with that even more and bring an extra spark of life to the scene too. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

I think there's a feeling of peace in this Colleen. The sea gets rough at times but always the calm returns over time. Mike

You're having a fine time with these gulls Colleen, I particularly like the last sheet. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

These seascapes are an absolute joy. I know that you will complete your self appointed task and work through 100 waves, you seem remarkably determined and doggedly persue your goals, but, from the looks of this wave alone you really don't need to. It's already top work. Mike

The second one wins it for me, it may be on a small scale but it's got 'oomph!' Mike

Aw what a pair of sweeties! I think you're hitting your stride, not wobbling. Mike

Interesting that you're treating the canvas before starting work on it. I wish I could afford linen, I bet you do too, but I always end up with the coarse stuff! Mike

Got to agree with young Mr. User. The pastel colours add to the quietness of mood. Super stuff. Mike

Richly deserved recognition Colleen and congrats on the sale too! I've been working on a triple portrait for the last couple of weeks, it's done now but I don't think portraits will ever stop scaring me! Mike

What a fabulous couple of sketches! Simple, straightforward captures of real experiences. Welcome back from the wilderness seascapes Colleen. :t: Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Another very successful study Colleen. I agree that gulls would add the final touch giving the scene an accent and lending scale. Mike

Perfect placement I'd say. Please don't stall, I really want to see this one finished. Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

I'm lovin' this already Colleen. I must admit though that to reach it's full potential I'd really like to see it done on a very large scale. With the combination of your skills applied to a large canvas and the thundering subject matter what an impact it would have! Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Now all that's missing from that Turneresque seascape is a few birds to inhabit the air! It's really impressive Colleen but I think you're wrong, you have got the hang of seascapes now! Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Well, yours is the final say and sometimes things won't come right no matter how hard we try. Once it reaches that point it's probably best to admit defeat. I'm sure that this subject will stick in your mind though and, at some time, it'll pour off the end of your brush and flow into just the...

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

Yep, you always seem to get there no matter how much work you feel you need to do. While the rest of us have to bin it and start again! Mike

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky.... I haven't sat and watched waves for a long time, these paintings are making me seasick (that's as in homesick though, not as in nauseous!). Just look at the way the light plays through the wave on the right of the first pic...

    Wings Over Winecountry, Colleen's place

These are just gorgeous! Light through the water and crashing waves in the fog. I think you could paint the sea endlessly from one spot and never see the same painting twice. I love these seascapes Colleen and I reckon you should take all 120, (or however many it is now), frame them and arrange...
