Well some of you will know that I don’t feed the birds in my garden. Mainly because the little devils totally ignore any feeder I ever put up. A strategy that may now need revising in the light of a Robin, Sparrow and Blue Tit showing themselves this week.
Instead I concentrate on my parent’s garden and am rewarded with the usual suspects. Blue Tit, Great Tit, Sparrow, Greenfinch Blackbird etc. These are all nice to see but it can be a little deflating when Elizabeth reports 72 Siskin, a Redpoll and a Brambling. But today I glanced out in to my parent’s back garden and there on the Leylandii was, blow me down, a Linnet no 2 Linnets and one decided to use the Bird Bath! Luckily I had the bins to hand as well. Not a bird you would expect to find in a garden in an Essex new town (although I had 4 in Tesco’s car park last weekend!). To round this off a male blackbird could be seen feeding junior. Lovely!
