What is happening in my Garden? (1 Viewer)

It has now been over a month since I have seen a single bird in my garden! Normally I would expect to see sparrows, dunnocks, blue and great tits, robin, a couple of wrens and blackbirds daily. But for some reason I have not had a single visitor. What is going on? I have not even seen the pigeons which would normally haunt the bird bath at least once a day.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

Has there been a sparrowhawk nearby?

Hi Sam and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

Birds desert my garden through from the end of July to mid-late Septemeber or even October. I think it's partly due to them moulting out their summer plumage so they cannot fly too well. They keep themselves well hidden. The other main reason is that there's plenty of food in the wider countryside. As this food source diminishes, they'll begin to return I'm sure. I've certainly seen more birds in the last 2-3 weeks.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
