When langing does wrong

I'm sure my Kookaburra's hate that I have this bloody camera.
99% of the time they get it right, but every now & then, there are these moments...

Sorry for the spelling mistakes. It should have read;
"When landing goes wrong"
& "these are those moments"
Shouldn't post after drinking ;)

I must confess, I thought langing might be a cruel Aussie sport!

"Don't drink and post" should also be printed on all alcohol bottles and cans (tinnies).

Walk on top of the World

These inspire me.
These are the days I wake ready to take on the world.

First of all welcome to the forum!

Secondly, I have an idea: how about a sort of 'Kookaburra diary' in which you could regularly post your experiences with these terrific birds. That way all your musings, anecdotes and pictures would be in one place. You could post them here in the Aussie subforum.

If you like, I can combine all of your existing threads on the subject into one.

Hi Drifter1, I've merged all of your pre-existing threads on your Kookaburras in to one. I kept the title as the original one you used but can change it if you so wish.

Hi Drifter1, I've merged your new thread with the existing one as we had previously discussed. I have also subscribed you to the thread so you should get email notification of any replies.

If you are having technical difficulties adding to the existing thread, please let me know and we'll see what we can do for you.

4 seasons in 1 day.

A few weeks I ago I awoke to be greeted by fog.
When that burnt off it left a lovely sunny day.
Later that morning the clouds started to roll in.
These were the precursor to the storms that followed (I have a couple of photos in the gallery - storm rider).
These are spring storms and are usually short lived, as it was on this day.
The clouds soon parted back to a sunny arvo.
On dusk the storms rolled back in.

God I love spring.

More of this on my blog;

I love that first picture Brad. We get misty starts to the day too, but mostly in the autumn.

A super set of images these.

My Latest Project.

The tree next door is in full flower and full of Lorikeets every morning.
I want to get some head on shots of them in flight, but my problem is they need to be within 4 or 5 feet to be in range.
I have noticed how they seem to use the same flight path when leaving the tree.
Over the last 2 mornings I watched scores of birds do this.
So this morn I set up the camera in the middle of their flight corridor, and yeah, you guessed. Camera shy.
I did get 2 give the camera a fly by, so there is hope.
As this was 1st attempt I learnt a lot from the photos.
1st mistake was shoot towards the tree (into the sun).
2nd to lower the camera so the fly over it rather than under it.
Anyway 1st attempts below
