Being fairly new at this are these pics from different angles any help, is this a young female Chaffinch. Got me stumped.

Certainly looks like female Chaffinch to me, Terry - why do you think it's a young one ? Last year's brood would be adult by now, and this year's probably aren't even laid yet, let alone hatched.

Nice clear close-up pix, by the way.

The only thing I could find in my ref books this light in colour was a juvenile the other thing that puzzled me was the dark line through the eye to the back of the head. not shown in anything I have.
