Can anyone tell me what the difference between

Canon 1.4x extender MKI
and
Canon 1.4x extender MKII

I have a Canon D30 and Canon EF 400mm 5.6 - will both work on this kit?

YES
its just more weather resitant although it does have newer coating's too but i dont think that make's any diffrence .
