Zeiss SF vs Swaro EL SV review - in DUTCH! (1 Viewer)

well you could use the formula, but then Zeiss SF:s (8x and 10x) would have 69° AFOV, so they would still be ahead,
;)

but apparently neither zeiss or swaro use that formula,
all the figures are from the manufacturer themselves,
probably more realistic values:

And if you compare them IRL you can
spot the difference, which was my point.
Zeiss SF have the bigger AFOV (and bigger FOV obviously),
and it is noticeable.

People usually don't like a tubelike view
you get with a smaller AFOV,
personally I think 60° - 70° is acceptable,
with the ideal somewhere in the middle.

higher AFOV gives a more immersive view,
if the ER is long enough,
otherwise you may not be able to see the whole field
without peeking around corners/moving your head
but Zeiss have done a great job with the eye piece in SF,

will be interesting to see if Swaro will follow this path
or not.

I think so too, Zeiss made the biggest field in roofs x 42.
I have a Leica Trino 10x32 BN, here it is AFOV 69 degrees,
The picture is sharper in the center than in SF, but still the highest accuracy and precision of the image is in the EL SV x42. This is my subjective evaluation

I got a headache.

Evidence at least that discussion about the AFOV measurements of the Swaro EL SV 10x42, 10x50 and 8.5x42 compared to the Zeiss 10x42 SF and 8x42 SF can cause a headache.

Note to Brock:

"Document this!"

Suggestion to prospective users. Just use them, don't analyze them!3:)

Documented and wax sealed with the emblem of the Royal House of Habsburg. :smoke:

Don't try this at home, folks.....

mind-head blowing

Its amazing what people will compare, for example:

Whats the difference between a hippo and a Zippo?
One is very heavy and the other is a little lighter!

I am on the Western Isles of Scotland just now and in these vast seascapes, landscapes and allmixedupscapes the FOV of SF 8x is very enjoyable.

And yes, its so lovely here that any brand or model of bins would be enjoyable too.
