A while ago i remember reading a thread about birding from international airports whilst waiting for connecting flights. I will have a few hours to kill in singapore airport next month and wondered if anyone knew what was possible as i have no experience of this part of the world.
Thanks
Dom

It depends on how much time you have. With a few hours, I'd head to one of the parks between the airport and the CBD.

If you have longer, I'd head to Changi boat docks and take a boat over to Pulau Ubin.

Thanks for this - will have three small children in tow so options may be limited but will try to get into the local parks.

The best local park I know near the airport is Pasir Ris Park, where you can find a good number of local "garden" (sunbirds, woodpeckers, triller, mynas, barbets) and mangrove species (fantail, hawk, kingfishers, herons, egrets, re-introduced red junglefowl), as well as the odd rarity (that season is good for migrants like cuckoos and some shorebirds can sometimes be found near the seafront, as well as hornbills). You need a cab to go there and back, considering the amount of time you have.
Near Changi itself, you may have other good birding opportunities (I heard Malaysian Plover and Nightjars may be found near the airport), but I don't know where exactly, and it will be for just a few species.
