Farne Islands (UK) - terns (1 Viewer)

Had a lovely trip out to the Farne Islands yesterday, and stopped off on Inner Farne. There had been Roseate Terns seen earlier in the day, but did not think I had seen them. Then I looked at one of the general shots I had taken, and wonder whether I have them in this picture... I have given the original shot and also a closer (full size) view of two areas with terns.

Any thoughts?

To me, the beaks of the top two birds in photo 2 look all black as does the bird at the front of the same picture, and the bird at the bottom right in the photo 3 also seems to have a black beak and....is it my imagination, or does that breast have a tinge of pink?!

From what I can see all of the terns are Sandwich Terns. The apparent all dark tip is probably due to them being partically obscured by other birds and random loose feathers.

All Sandwich Terns. The yellow tip to the bill can 'vanish' at certain angles and in some lights. The bird bottom right in the last photo has a crest - Roseate ( if thats what you were hoping for ;) ) is smaller, more delicate and lacks the crest.
