Question about Spam (1 Viewer)

Nothing to do with birding, but like eveyone I get loads of spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam.........loverly spam!

Its not a problem as such, my spam filter does its job and I never respond to, or even open, spam messages.
Occasionally, however, I get a spam message purporting to be from myself where the spammers email address appears to be the same as mine.

Questions are: "how do the spammers achieve this?" and "are they sending spam to other people pretending to be me?"

I've never had other problems associated with my email so I don't think they have actually accessed my email but rather they somehow mask their own email address with mine.

An email header has fields for "From " and "Reply to", an email program can put what it likes in those. Putting your email address in there is just an attempt to get round spam filtering.
