Hello,

Is this gull Larus a. argenteus or argentatus please - and why?

(I suspect the 2nd generation lower scapulars make it argenteus)

worn coverts and most if not all scaps renewed (some time ago as there is some wear in them too) make it a southern breeder and as such most probably an argenteus.
 
you mean a southern argentatus, jan?
which of course is a possibility. most tatus wintering in england seem to come from further north, though, but there's a lot of room for speculation of course,
