Moth - Watlington, UK (1 Viewer)

Hi - found this moth (whilst looking for Kites!) on Watlington Hill yesterday morning. Any ideas what it is?

Also, any tips on a good guidebook for moths / butterflies?

Thanks,
Simon.

It's a butterfly, looks like Large Skipper.

The moth book is a revised second edition but if you're a relative newcomer, the old first edition is cheaper and you won't be missing out on anything relevant to your experience,

Perhaps, even better, price wise, the concise edition of the same book below.

Looks more like Silver-spotted Skipper to me + probably a bit late for a Large Skipper, especially one looking as fresh as this.
