I will be in Sicily in mid May for a week. Would appreciate any info on good birding sites or local guides etc.
 
Ok. Not sure how far you are prepared to travel but the Messina strait is very good for migration. To the south there is Lentini Lake but not sure if you can access it these days.

I have been twice but stayed in Trapani both times, which is a long way from Taormina. There is a decent range of birdlife there, particularly on the saltpans.
