Bird Fight Video (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone. I'm a new user hoping to discuss and learn more about something I filmed in my back yard yesterday. I live in Alameda, CA, and we have these Western Scrub Jays that hang out in our yard. I caught footage of two of them wrestling on the ground. The whole thing lasted about four minutes.

I've read that fights between mature males over territory during breeding season are not uncommon in this species. But what about outside of breeding season? Could they have been fighting over the other bird in the video, maybe a female?

Thanks, and I hope you like the video. Sorry for the low quality.
