Quick and cheap telephoto lens hood cover tip (1 Viewer)

I've recently acquired a Canon 300mm 2.8, and one thing that bothered me was the size of the leather lens cap cover. While it looks very nice and is fine for storage of the lens, when I'm out in the field moving between shots with my camera on a gimbal or monopod, I want the hood covered to avoid dust floating onto the lens, but I equally want to be able to have the lens uncovered and ready to go in a few seconds.

The problem I have with the canon cover is that due to it's size (not to mention weight) it has to be carefully slid off and then stowed somewhere, all of which is a pain.

My solution is to use those blue disposable shoe covers. These things cost next to nothing, can be slid on or off the end of the hood within a second or two and stuffed in a pocket, and are even waterproof. The light blue colour might not be to everyone's taste, but from a functional point of view I think they're great.
