when will the NEW EDG binos be available (1 Viewer)

The only place I saw that started selling the new EDG is opticsplanet, and they only have the 10x42. From their website:"We only have a very limited quantity of Nikon EDG2 10x42 Binoculars 7562 available at this time. More will become available in early 2011.". I don't know anything about 8x32 and 7x42 though.

Official launch is at SHOT show in January 2011! Shipping starts then, but for some dealers it might take two months or so for them to receive the product.

There have been many changes in the EDG from the LX L. They are completely redesigned from the old LX L. The North American version of the EDG is changing by losing the front hinge only AFAIK. I don't think there is much else they can do.

And there is a new 7 x 42 version. The first 7 x 42 Roof Prism Nikon has made. Welcome now that Swarovski is discontinuing theirs.

Prisms are now dielectric. They have ED glass. They are much brighter than the older LX Ls. Better flare control. Better CA control. Eye relief is longer. FOV remains the same. New design makes them hang better from the strap. Much better strap! More comfortable to hold, better balanced. Better (in my view) diopter control. Have focus lock on focus wheel. Tripod adapter built into front of hinge. They come with optional sturdy Horned Eye Cups that slip over the hard eye cups easily and they are very good in blocking out incidental light. The case is redesigned and improved.

This is based on my comparison of my 10 x 32 EDG and my 10 x 32 LX L.
