This bird was seen earlier this month in North East Texas. It was associating with a flock of Chipping Sparrows. As can be seen it is slightly larger than the Chipping Sparrow. Any ideas?

I think so too. I see them usually with blackbirds in the pasture. Here is a website from the Sutton Center here in Oklahoma about their research project on the decline of song birds.
