Hi,

Is this bird a sparrow? What kind?

It was taken in Maplewood Flats in North Vancouver, BC. Adjacent to Vancouver harbour.
Its size was much larger than a chickadee - maybe 3 - 4 times larger.

Depends what you mean by 'larger'... Conventionally, overall length is used to compare birds' sizes (as any other measure is difficult to quantify and compare), and, on that basis, song sparrow is roughly 1¼ times the size of a chickadee. On top of that, judging the size of a lone bird is in any case notoriously unreliable.

Thanks for the insight. I am a beginner birder and there is a lot to learn! Your advice is appreciated.
