I have a request for assistance. I really need help with the ID of this bird. The picture was taken at Busch Gardens in Tampa Florida. I know the bird is not native to North America.

Thanks so much in advance.

Jon

Purple Glossy Starling sounds like a good option IMO. Tails looks shortish (though this green leave is really in the worst place to assess primary projection to the tail. The overall purple colour looks good for Purple. Unfortunately, lighting conditions have a great influence on Glossy Starlings aspect. Eye colour is a bit light (variable) and this bird doesn't show the typical "swollen" lores as normally seen in Purple:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1427/539214669_625e85a23d.jpg
But that could be due to the position of the head...
