Baby California scrub Jay (1 Viewer)

I have had a California scrub Jay for about a week now. The kids brought it to me. I did not realize she was a fledgling and probably exploring in til i did my research a few days later.if i put her outside she follows me everywhere. Same thing for around the house. She loves to cuddle with me. I read that they bond for life. I am currently in rehab and am completing in a week. I have to move to a sober living home. If i release her do u think she will survive? She started flying today. Or should I release her at the sober living i am going to? So she can still have that bond

Welcome to Birdforum.

It would be best to release the bird now so it can get used to fending for itself.

Ok, thank you Kits. Will it be okay even though it is attached to me? Should i bring it food at least once a day? Until i leave? I leave in a week

You could put some food outside for it to supplement the natural food available.

Hi, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. If you can find a rehabilitator in your area that would help you I would do so.
