Banks of the Dodder river in Ireland- thrush (1 Viewer)

The shape and distribution of the spots is a good way to tell them apart (taking the upside down 'heart' for Song Thrush, you can memorise it as 'Song Thrush sings from the heart'). Mistle is a bigger, sometimes greyer looking bird, often with a very upright stance, whereas Song Thush tends to be browner and smaller (a bit smaller than Blackbird, with a shorter tail). On Song Thrush the distribution of 'spots' is often rather symmetrical looking from the front, whereas on Mistle it seems much more random. The 'spots' on both birds can vary in size and shape though the flank spots on Mistle do appear more rounded than Song Thrush's ever do.
Photos 1 and 2 are Mistle Thrush, 3 and 4 are Song Thrush.
