Thanks Paul - unfortunately I don't think any of listed sites are on or adjacent to his route (Oban to Fort William, across to Newton more and up to Garten). Slight race of time to get to Murcar before the interesting ducks disappear or interest wanes making the harder to find.

I think it's probably all the same wood, but we saw them this year from the small car park which is on the minor road east from Spean Bridge, south of the river, just after it crosses the railway. Grid ref would be approx. 228 815.

Doubt Wood Warblers will be singing much (if at all) by now, but listen out for contact call, like a short single version of the piuu-piuu-piuu song.

He seems to have used a lot of time/effort just to get White Tailed Eagle especially as he got Corncrake further south? Golden Eagle easy enough near Garten and other year ticks common on Shetland. Surely better to get the rares on the east coast

Advice taken about how easy White-tailed Eagle is this year around Findhorn et al - only things that time is ticking on at present is the scoter and eider which will hopefully linger until the end of the month. There is also the majesty of the Western Isles and Gary is keen that this year is an experience and not just a tick-a-thon.

Back to Coll again today, this time connecting with the Category C2 population of Snow Geese (#265). Due to ferry timetables he won't get back to Oban until late tomorrow.

Gary spent the day at Insh Marshes yesterday - unfortunately no Spotted Crake and no Wood Warbler at the site highlighted by Neil.

Now a question of tidying up Caper, Ptarmigan, Crested Tit and Osprey and on to Murcar for the scoter and eider via Burghead for the White-billed Diver.

Two of the above secured today with Osprey at Loch Insh (#266) followed by Ptarmigan up Cairn Gorm (#267). Now off to stake out the feeders at Loch Garten!
