Bird Families of the World, 17th edition (1 Viewer)

I like the LeCroy position:

"should be retained in a monotypic subfamily, Hypocryptadiinae Hachisuka, 1930"
Types of AMNH 2011.

Not really easy to guess with the last name alone 🧐
Great gender discussion guys! I'm assuming you're both male? 🤣🤣🤣
For the sake of those of us less knowledgeable what is the LeCroy position?
And in which paper or papers can we find the divergence time estimate between Ibon and Sparrows?

Or write Ibon phylogeny on Google images and see 😏
Ta!
Aye I could've done that but I wanted to make sure anyone reading the thread had direct links etc.

So, in 2010 the divergence on the chromagram was estimated at around 30mya, which seems a bit excessive compared to the numbers currently used.
On the fig. it is comparable with the divergence between Fringillidae & the New World 9-primaried clade, and earlier than the Estrildidae/Viduidae split.👍

What are people's thoughts on Xenops being in its own family and 1 vs 3 families of New World Barbet (e.g. Ramphastidae, Semniornithidae, and Capitonidae)?

Olson in his New World Suboscine classification paper proposed recognizing Xenops in its own family, but the divergence time between it and other ovenbirds seems much younger in that study than other family level divergences. I know since SACC split up the barbets that the default position for them is 3 families, but the divergences between these seem much younger than between other members of Piciformes.

I keep going back and forth, and with my return from Panama soon I will need to make a decision for my own listing purposes!

I've passed the typos/errors mentioned in this thread on to Don. He said he's always happy to receive any other suggestions for corrections - his contact details are on the website.
