Dandelion

New member
Greetings,

This bird has shown up for 2 days now in our yard. The first time it was sitting on the wood that holds our cloths line. The next day it appeared on a sign in our front yard and then moved to our tree. My wife got to snap some pictures on the second day. She took over 30 but I've attached the best two.

Could you please help identify what it is?

My neighbor was out there snapping pictures and he swears it's a falcon. Most people we show the picture to say a hawk.

Thanks!!

Red Tailed Hawk

Agreed. It is a juvenile, Dandelion. Which may explain why it is not very skittish. This year's bird, likely. It will get it's Red tail next year. You can tell it is a Red-tail from it's dark cummerbund like marking on it's belly.

And since this is your first post: Welcome to Bird Forum!:hi:
