Yes sorry, it was yesterday in Devon Southwest.

That would make it a Grey Plover on this side of the pond.

Thanks, that was other one I was thinking but hard to distinguish between the two and good old Merlin app comes up with Black-bellied plover even with location set

There is only one. 'Grey plover' and 'black-bellied plover' are just different common names for the same species Pluvialis squatarola.

Yes, though following the American Ornithological Society format (as Americans usually do) the name would be capitalized: Black-bellied Plover.
