A pair of Blue Tits are showing interest in my nest box before I cleared out the old nest from last year. What should I do? leave well alone or remove the old nest?

They've been checking out a hole in our house wall for a few months now. Think they will be checking out suitable sites out well in advance of actual breeding, so yes, safe to clean.
