Hi guys, looking to spend two weeks in may to cover camargue area, videoing birds and wildlife in general.Where would be the best area to be based to cover region, and as we always go self catering, any recommendations as to accomodation in area to be covered.Been looking on various websites for s/c but prices seem extorsionate, been to spain many times and prices are a lot cheaper, have i been looking on wrong websites?any info much appreciated. Thanks, Kelvin.

I've been to the Camargue area a few times, and the last time I spent any time there I stayed near St. Remy-de-Provence. However, this wasn't a particularly central location for the main birding areas (the Camargue itself, La Crau and Alpilles) and if I was going again I would probably look to stay closer to Arles (probably somewhere between Arles and Les Baux) as the main areas are then all close at hand. That may be a bit of a pricey area to stay in though.

Have you tried the Gites-de-France website for accomodation?
