Cheers

It is a Laughing Dove. It should be established on some of the Islands.

Many thanks for confirmation. What prompted my 'concern' was that Laughing (or Palm) Dove is not included in the list of birds to be found in "A Birdwatchers Guide to The Canary Isles" - the list is very comprehensive. The book though was published in 1996 and, I guess, this Dove has only recently found its way there - a quick Google shows a number of recent sightings.

Cheers

Most definitely a Laughing Dove.

They are definitely established on Fuerteventura as a breeding species, and seem to be spreading.

I think records on other islands in the group are few, but no-one is sure if these originate from West Africa or were introduced.

It is also several years out of date. The latest field guide has records for five of the Canary Islands.

They are relatively common on golf courses on Lazarote - when i say common i simply mean a bird or so are seen with some routine.
