gulls (3 Viewers)

Two bird theory, Isle of Man

Went looking for a reported Glauc yesterday and found a Kumlien's, which looks like a slightly advanced second winter (third calendar year) bird. The Glauc turned up too. Pics of both attached.

I was thinking Caspian for this gull, it was very long legged, also pale yellow legs, had an Albatross browed expression on its face. Large white mirror on P10 with a slight bar on the tip

sorry but wingtip pattern wrong for caspian. seems to lack a solid mark on p5 either, which leaves only herring gull. the amount of black on wing and yellowish legs made me think of YLG but p5 mark seems to be small.

I can't tell; is this lou posting images for everyone to try ID at, or everyone posting gulls to get ID confirmation from lou :-O

Well until we get a laser pointer which we can point at gulls and it tells us what they are and how old they are, may this thread ever remain active :t:
