Hi everyone,

I've been casually birding for 1-2 years and am glad to finally join this forum!
Some birding-relevant things about me...

  • Today I've spotted my 117th bird, Golden-crowned Kinglet, on Vancouver Island where I'm visiting for the holidays.
  • I don't have a car so it's hard to get around but I do travel overseas a couple of times a year, which I'm finding to be so much more interesting with bird watching.
  • I use 10x25 RSPB Avocet binoculars. For ID'ing and recording I use Merlin/eBird, a spreadsheet, and a handwritten journal. Also 7 books on birds - they seem to mysteriously multiply.
  • My current bird watching dream targets are i) any owl and ii) kingfisher, which apparently has been seen by everyone except me..

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits. Good luck with the owl and kingfisher quest!
