There is a baby wood pigeon on a branch of the tree in our garden. Parent is on our roof and we have seen him/her feeding the chick. Our issue is that there are magpies squawking in our Leylandii next to the tree. Would they harm the chick and uf so, how can we chase them away and prevent them returning? Thank you. We are really upset about this.

Yes, the parents will interrupt any threat to the youngsters.
Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on BirdForum!

Hi Deb and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. The adults should know how to deal with threats from birds that they've co-existed with for millennia. It's always best not to interfere with nature, but to let the creatures do what they have always done.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
