This bunting is named for Mrs. Florence Dickey, not only because of her interest in western ornithology, but in appreciation of her kindness and assistance to me in innumberable ways.

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:
Varied Bunting ssp. Passerina versicolor dickeyae Van Rossem, 1934
Audubon's Oriole ssp. Icterus graduacauda dickeyae Van Rossem, 1938
Florence Dickey née Murphy (fl.1932) was the widow of Donald Ryder Dickey (see above). She wrote Familiar Birds of the Pacific Southwest (1935).

The Key to Scientific Names
Florence Van Vechten Dickey née Murphy (fl. 1940) wife of US zoologist Donald R. Dickey (subsp. Icterus graduacauda, subsp. Passerina versicolor).

According here Florence Van Vechten Dickey née Murphy (6 Aug 1888 Montague, Muskegon County, Michigan - 19 Aug 1974 Nevada County, California, USA)

Despite what is written on grave actually born in 1885 (attached). Also was a remarkable woman that participated in WW1 in the Red Cross wrote books on ornithology and was "the brains of the outfit". I feel that her status as Dickey's wife (for 11 years until her death) is the least interesting thing about her.
