identifying bats (1 Viewer)

Is there a way to identify a bat in flight? Because in the evening I see bats flying above almost every day, I know which bats live in my area, but can I identify it by just seeing it in a flight?

Some species, it is possible, by their unique size, visible features or behaviour.
Obvious UK examples being Noctule, perhaps Serotine, and Daubentens, and Brown long eared. Everything else needs a bat detector which would help identify a fair proportion of species, or someone with a license to handle them at a roost.
