Two questions come to my mind - why did researchers start to look at New Caledonian Crows, and what is it that has caused this species to become so intelligent even relative to other Corvids?
 
I believe that some of the tools they use are the most sophisticated animal made tools discovered to date. In fact they've been researched for some time.
