Thoughts welcome on this bird.Feeding in mixed flock of lessers and definite meallys. This bird very white, little in way UTC markings, rose wash as opposed red ,hint of white rump.Well marked meally..or something better?
Interesting looking bird, not sure its punched in the face enough for arctic, long wings, few utc mstreaks and pale appearance look good for Mealy to me, however if it really stood out to you....
I think you can see a streaked rump in pic 3 so
Mealy for me. The utc streaks aren't extensive enough to rule out arctic but are definitely pro mealy. Keep going Paul, you will get one soon.
Well then I have Mealy and Lesser Redpolls in my garden in Newry as I have ones exactly like this one with rosy pink wash (as well as ones with red wash) and also the clear white mark in its back. I knew I had two different sizes of Redpolls and some were different so this has cleared it up for me too.......... thanks. Super photos.
