Taken today at Oare Marshes. I think the first two are Golden Plover and Curlew but the third ? Word has it that it is the famous/infamous Long Billed Dowitcher but as I would not know one if I bumped into it then I would like confirmation please.
Thank you.

I took these last year (including some with a redshank and greenshank), and it looks the same to me.

From my very limited knowledge i would agree with you. I'm fairly sure that it is a Dowitcher, and Long Billed seemed to fit the bill, due to the more patterned back than would be shown with the Short Billed, which in the literature that i have, says it looks like winter plumaged Knot. I don't think this bird's back looks like that of a winter plumaged knot. However i'm sure someone else of greater knowledge will be along soon to clear this up.

Sorry John!
I didn't mean to p on your fireworks, in fact your first pic in particular looks beautiful with the reflected ripples on his underside, I didn't think mine were better at all.

It was just that this was the one from Hayle, actually in April this year not last year as I said, and was positively ID'd so a good comparison.
It's a great find though, and few will have actually seen one, let alone got decent photos. :D

Cheers,
Matt
