I have attached five photos of birds that I am struggling to id.
Cant believe that I cannot id the Sparrow

Kenya Rufous Sparrow, Slate-coloured Boubou, African Grey Flycatcher, Rattling(?) Cisticola, African Grey Flycatcher again.

I'm not surprised at your confusion with the Sparrows, nothing in the book fits!

No real time for a proper look but bird 2 of the set looks like African Grey Flycatcher.

Edit: If that's right for the Sparrow, the book is crap! Should have white cheeks, shelleyi obviously and the female has a solid, grey head and breast, not shown in the book either. This actually looks intermediate between the two races?

It's a tricky one for sure. I thought I could see a couple of dark streaked crown feathers, albeit a little out of focus. If I'm mistaken (happens) then yes, Pale it is.

I was thinking along the lines for the flycatcher but completely lost with the Sparrow.
