Can someone help me with this? Merlin says it's a Taiga Flycatcher but it seems a bit uncertain. I have seen it for two days in the same location and have lots more photos (but some not so good)

I'm surprised because it's a common winter visitor to Hong Kong. Is it under the alternative name of Red-throated Flycatcher?

Red-throated Flycatcher is the alternative name for Taiga today, widely used in Hong Kong (hence the suggestion to check the book for Red-throated as opposed to Red-breasted)

There's 'is' and there's 'was'. A given book can be from either period - thus good to check for both options.

I'd echo that Andy but add, since nobody has mentioned it, this individual can be readily aged as a 1st-winter (2cy) on account of whitish tips to the greater coverts (unmoulted juvenile feathers), likewise the pale fringe to middle tertial creating a 'hook' at the tip of the inner web.
