Loch Garten Ospreys (1 Viewer)

Still no sign of Odin as far as I know.

Hmmm not good, as she's going to have to leave the nest to fish eventually if he doesn't turn up. Best outcome would be for her to accept one of the intruders as soon as at this stage, I guess.

The intruder is going to smash the eggs.

Do you know the latest date for successful egg laying there, time is getting on?

According to Roy Dennis the last date for laying eggs in Scotland is 23rd May.

Now Threave in 2012 may have had a later clutch but that is not known for certain.

Second clutches have a very record. Only three laid since 1954 and the first two of those failed in various ways.

The third is being incubated at Rutland site B right now.

I do not expect there to be any more eggs at Loch Garten this year.

In 2005 when the eggs were destroyed on 25th April there was no second clutch.

I guess the fact she is continuing to sit on a damaged egg doesn't help either. Looking like there won't be chicks this year.
