Mouse or rat UK (1 Viewer)

Hi, my neice sent me this picture from her Warwickshire garden. She thought it was a mouse but I wondered about a smallish rat as it seems (to me) to have a thicker tail. What do you think?

Cheers

Dave

PS: Sorry, photo came out sideways.

My instinct on this is Bank Vole - shape (including ears) and colour seem to fit. Tail length looks okay (body seems, scrunched up in this pose, maybe making tail look longer in comparison).

Bank Vole has a shorter thinner bi-coloured tail (dark above, light below) that is furred not naked. The face is shorter and blunter. It's nothing like as big as this animal. It has reddish upperworks fading to grey-brown flanks with a sharp demarcation to whitish underparts.

This is a young Brown Rat.
