Guys. Sorry to join just to ask this question, but it's in the birds interest too! Over the past 3 years my neighbour has shot (around 6) pigeons and collard doves which have fell into my garden dead or fatally injured. Yesterday it hapened again. I took the dove to the vet who put it to sleep. I asked him if he had shot it and he answered, "yes" with a smirk on his face. My contentions are:
I have asked him on each occasion to desist.
The dead/injured birds upset my wife and child.
He must have shot out of his boundry due to the position of dead birds in my garden, although he would not admit to this.
His garden is only 50ft x 20ft
He uses a high-power air rifle
He says he shoots them because "they bully the little birds".
He puts seed out to attract them.
I am fairly sure he is not an, "authorised person", and that even if he were there would be no justification for shooting as we do not have a problem with pigeon/dove numbers.
Yesterday i called the Police and am waiting for them to contact me. Am I doing the right thing by involving the police?
Thanks,
Alex
