Predated bird leg ID (1 Viewer)

TWM

Well-known member
This leg was found in NE Scotland under a tree where a Barn Owl regularly hangs out.
I would guess that the bird was predated at night and I am thinking that it is probably a Snipe (or Jack Snipe)
The middle toe is 2.75cm long.

The outer toes on Common Snipe appear to be longer (nearly the same length as the middle toe)
and the hind toe is longer on Common Snipe. Also Common Snipe leg has a yellowish tinge.
