Cannock Chase survey 2012

Cannock Chase breeding birds

There, now I've hopefully got your attention?!

I'm co-ordinating the bird survey for Cannock Chase AONB this year, and I need your roving records of absolutely every species!

So next time you're out on the chase and you see something, please make a note and email them to [email protected]

I also need breeding records for all species, especially for the specialist species (you know who I'm on about ;) ) These record will be kept confidential but will also help inform the land managers if what they are doing is working.

So please please please please please please please please please please please please please (you get the idea) send me all your records!!! Don't just stick them on BirdTrack as I can't get hold of them without "faffing" around. :-O

Also if you want to take on a transect or two to survey please get in touch on the email above. Reasonable travel expenses can be re-imbursed for transect volunteers

Cheers
Scott

Cannock Chase survey 2012

Whilst I try and figure out how to edit posts, please add the following when reading my previous post

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RECORDS TO ME AND BIRDTRACK

Osprey, Newcastle-under-Lyme

One over Basford at 16:30 according to BGuides.

Aaaaaargh, I live in Basford! It must have flown over my house while I was sat in the office at Keele. Gutting.

Gailey

No sign of the Black Red today at Gailey - I only gave the farm area about ten mins but although the usual Wagtails it hangs out with were there I couldn't locate it. Very little on the water the best a pair of Goosander.

The Black Redstart was still at Gailey this afternoon. It was around the first house on the left after the Sailing Club. There were also 50 Golden plover in the fields east of the road

Black Redstart still at at Gailey today.

It is now spending practically all its time around the farm viewable from the second entrance to the sailing club carpark.

The bird was feeding around the roofs of the house and nearby barns at midday. It was also there later around 15:00 when I had completed my usual circuit. Also, first Gailey Chiffchaff of the year there.

Extra News for the 10th Mar

Black Redstart - Blithfield still by Angling club
Grey Plover - Uttoxeter Quarry this pm

Battle of the Black Redstarts!

Meanwhile. The Blithers Black Redstart showed particularly well by the angling club this morning.

Also seen on the dam's valve tower, the bird was singing. Looking at the increasing amount of white in the wing-panel, this bird will eventually turn into a handsome male. :t:

Also the Knot at Branston GP's with 3 Ruff, and the distant Utch Grey Plover (left of the headless Cormorant :-O).
