Robin's Nest - What happened to the eggs??!! (1 Viewer)

Good morning!

This is my first post here on The Bird Forum and I am hoping someone can help me.
We had a Robin build a beautiful nest outside of our bedroom window, she then laid 4 eggs and had been incubating the babies the past couple of days. When I came home yesterday afternoon I went to the window to find 4 completely broken eggs sitting in the nest and no mom to be found. Then this morning one of the broken eggs was gone. :-C

Could anyone tell me what happened? Were the eggs infertile? Did they collapse because there was no embryo? Did something try to get at the nest but failed? Just trying to understand why all 4 eggs would be broken in the nest.
Also, what should we do with the nest? Should we wait to disperse of it?

* I attached 3 photos; 1 with the eggs before they were broken, then the photo yesterday and then one from this morning with 1 egg missing.

Thanks in advance!
Rachel

Squirrels and raccoons are notorious for this unfortunately. Larger birds such as Crows and Ravens are known for this as well.

BTW, A warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:
