Salzburg and Villach (1 Viewer)

Hello All,

It looks like I may be getting a short trip to Villach, Austria for business in the middle of April, and I'm trying to tack on a weekend before the trip for some birding. It's likely I'll be flying into Salzburg on Friday and wouldn't need to be in Villach until Sunday evening.

I'm hoping to see some alpine species, especially wallcreeper, as well as alpine accentor, snowfinch, nutcracker, and the like. Also, if there are lammergeiers around that would be good, too. Any recommendations on where I should spend my time? I'm assuming that most of the alpine roads, such as that up the grossglockner, would not be open so early, but if there are cablecars that can get me up to the alpine areas, that would be just fine.

Also, I read in an old trip report that Eagle Owls nested in Salzburg at one time. Do they still nest there?

TIA,

Jeff
