Sandpiper, Salsbury State Reserve, just north of Boston, Mass (1 Viewer)

Could I get a little help on this guy? Merlin identified it as a Curlew Sandpiper but marked it as "Rare". He was with a group of Sanderlings but didn't seem to match their markings or bill. Photo taken on November 18, 2020.

Merlin got it wrong, unfortunately: it's a Dunlin.

Merlin would just eat it, regardless of the species . . .
